Meet Dr. Linda and Dr. Al
Linda Bress Silbert, Ph.D. and Alvin J. Silbert, Ed.D. have worked for over 40 years with students of all ages and abilities, including those struggling in school due to anxiety, ADD/ADHD, and learning disabilities, including dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia. In 1976, they co-founded Strong Learning Centers, a full-service tutoring and diagnostic practice they continue to operate.
Authors of the award winning book, Why Bad Grades Happen to Good Kids, Drs. Linda and Al have developed a variety of learning and study aids for students, from books that have sold over a million copies to SuperDeck card games including those that appear on this site. Dr. Linda writes a weekly education column for five area newspapers and is a regular presenter at the annual Everyone Reading conference in New York.
Prior to starting Strong Learning Centers, “Dr. Linda” was a public elementary classroom teacher and an award-winning private school principal. Linda has a master’s degree in school counseling with a concentration in reading and a Ph.D. in educational counseling/administration. “Dr. Al,” whose doctorate is in teaching math and physics, taught high school math and physics for 34 years.
The Silberts live in the suburbs of New York. They have two grown children and three grandchildren.
